August is behind us which means it’s officially Fall – or at least it is according to Instagram. In the next few months, it’s all about those transitional pieces that can take you from 80-degree afternoons to 50 degree nights. I’ve been ALL about camo this Summer and I’m not planning to stop that obsession this Fall. So, today I’m sharing two ways to style camo leggings for Fall.
Today’s post is in collaboration with Lord & Taylor where I picked up the pieces for these cute outfits. That includes the highlight item: Sanctuary Camo Leggings. These leggings are super thick, almost more like pants or high-quality jeggings, so they give you a comfy fit and hold their shape. For your reference, I am wearing the size XS. I also like that they are long enough. I’m 5’11’ and was still able to cuff these once without them being too short on me.
Jean and camo are a timeless pair. Typically we think of jeans on the bottom and camo on top, but for this outfit, I’ve swapped that normal arrangement. I paired the Sanctuary Camo Leggings with a light wash denim jacket. This jacket has a feminine ruffle detail. I like pairing feminine details with camo because it softens the look. Camo can feel sort of masculine, so light wash denim and ruffle details really help to balance it out! To further keep the outfit light and bright, I’m wearing a white cowl neck tank top underneath (in XS).
Style Tip: A cropped jacket can sometimes make you appear shorter, so I always try to pair it with something that elongates my legs. A skinny pair of jeans (or jeggings) combined with a little height from some heels can do wonders to make your legs look miles long. This lengthens your entire look and prevents you from looking cropped in a cropped jacket! For reference, I am 5’11” – so this jacket wouldn’t have a cropped fit on someone more petite.
Knit pieces pair great with camo for Fall! Who doesn’t love the comfy chic look of a loose sweater paired with fitted leggings? I’m wearing the Calvin Klein everyday sweater in size small here. I added knit accessories because I prefer to bundle up as the temperatures drops. For shoes, I wanted to go for something that balanced the chunky, comfy sweater with the more trendy leggings and these Steve Madden Slip-On Sneakers are the perfect thing because they have the classic look of a sneaker with a more hip finish of leather. The wedge heel in the sneaker gives the illusion of longer legs! I sized up .5 in these sneakers so that I would wear thicker socks as the weather cools down.
Style Tip: Don’t be afraid to mix browns and greys! You can see here with the camo leggings I’m wearing a khaki sweater, taupe scarf, and grey hat. These different colors can all work together. Try pairing colors with similar hues – for example, these are all cool-toned neutrals, so they work well together!
