I cried A LOT of tears leaving this home and I’m not a crier. It was our dream home. It was the home I thought we’d get our kids through high school in. The home where we made the kind of friends who are like family. My emotions are so raw, I’m teary even typing what we left behind.
My Dad had been sick with Parkinson’s and dementia for so long I pictured myself helping take care of him until my kids were at an age where they were so invested in school friends and sports they wouldn’t want to move. While I always wanted to try a warmer climate I was resigned to that being in my “retirement” plan. When my Dad died last April and the kids’ (new) school closed for COVID my mind expanded to new dreams.
We renovated almost every room in this home with the plan to stay there and reap the benefits ?. I have all my paint colors listed in this blog post and will link a few blog posts with more renovation details below. The most popular renovation post is this one about refinishing our red oak hardwood floors.
