Countdown is on!  I’m heading to Florida in less than 2 weeks!   Some of my girlfriends planned a trip to Florida for early February.  I was on the fence about skipping out of town because of all the recent health problems with my Dad, but I took the plunge and booked a ticket last week.   I’m already packing and I wanted to share what’s in my suitcase should any of you be looking for resort wear as well.   Many of the items are from the GibsonLook X HiSugarPlum Resort Wear 2019 collection.   I always love Gibson pieces because they are at such a great price point without sacrificing quality.

Resort Wear 2019 Favorites

Two things I always bring on vacations with me – my travel steamer and a spray tan!   Ha – seriously – a spray tan makes me feel SO MUCH more confident – especially in a bathing suit.  I actually have my own spray tan machine at home which makes for some very awkward moments with my husband.   I rarely spray tan in the Winter because it’s so cold outside we have to do it in the basement and I don’t like doing it without ventilation.  It’s also a cool mist….brrr!

I’m only bringing one pair of jeans – rare for me – and they are this pair of cropped white denim from Social Threads.    See how I restyled them below.

I am bringing 2 pairs of shorts – denim cut offs and these elastic waist shorts by Gibson.   I have size XS – they fit true to size and the waist hits at a flattering place.   Did I mention they have pockets?

I grabbed 2 affordable bathing suits on Amazon.   I had low expectations given the price point but I LOOOOOOVE them both.   I ordered size small in both suits.  A simple way to pack less is to wear a one piece bathing suit like a bodysuit out to dinner or lunch.   Some people worry about being in a wet bathing suit for too long – I believe because of yeast infections.   You have to actually get in the water to have a wet suit so I’m not sure I will run into this issue ?.

Weeks shy of 37 (my bday is Feb 11th), I’m posting a bathing suit photo on the internet.    This is not a comfortable moment – but this striped one piece swimsuit is so cute – I wanted show you the legs weren’t obviously high cut.   I am wearing size small and the quality is excellent – especially given the price point.

Rompers can be tricky for taller gals like myself.   I am 5’11” so sometimes I experience what’s commonly referred to as a camel toe when a romper is not long enough in the torso.   Luckily this Gibson ruffle hem romper doesn’t cause that issue – it’s super comfortable and lightweight. I have size XS, and it’s a crepe material that will barely take up any space in my suitcase.

Here is the other one shoulder bathing suit I got from Amazon.   It’s like a purplish brown – maybe you’d call it raisin colored?   It’s so cute and again I opted to wear it like a bodysuit since I’m not likely to do a lot of swimming.   I always get a spray tan before vacations and I like to preserve them as long as possible.  Since my kids won’t be there – I may be able to get away with just dipping my toes in.

The wide leg pants (wearing XS) are SO CUTE for travel and also from the Gibson X HiSugarPlum collaboration.   They’re very lightweight and have pockets.  I chose the white stripes – I’d recommend nude underwear with these.

This gauzy resort wear top is perfect for those who like to pack light because it can be restyled several different ways.  Pair it with skirts, shorts, heels, or flats, and each combo will make it look like a new piece.    If you’re looking for more tips for packing light I did a whole blog post with tips last winter.

These are the white jeans I mentioned I above that I was bringing.   They’re easy to dress up or down and aren’t revealing in the behind if you know what I mean.

This is the marble-look suitcase I bought last year and will be bringing with me.   I’m aiming to be a carry-on only traveler.   My number one resort wear purchase from last year was THIS STRAW CIRCLE TOTE!   I need to dig mine out of my deep dark basement but it’s coming with me!!    It sold out so quickly last year.   You can find a more affordable alternative for my bag here.
