We’re Moving – AGAIN! Sneak Peek

You may have seen on stories at the end of 2024 I shared that we sold our current home. We had not been thinking about moving until I had shown a house around the corner from us to a friend and I fell in love with the floor plan. It was already dry walled and tiled and had been being built for the builder as his primary residence. He changed his plans and this home was now being built as a spec home.

Since we were getting ready to do some expensive cosmetic renovations to our current home, I told Chris to come look at this house with me.

What sold him: a much bigger garage.
What sold me: separate his and hers closets, second floor primary bedroom (I wanted my kids’ game room on the first floor), bigger yard for the dogs, and an amazing pantry space off the kitchen.

While we were weighing our options, someone happened to want to buy our home off market and he offered to let us stay in our current home until the construction of the new place was complete. Said buyer lives in the guest house over the garage when he is in town and we have actually become close friends!

Because the build was fairly far along in the process I was only able to choose some finishes. The flooring had even been ordered in a cooler/darker shade of brown when we went under contract but it could be restocked for a fee to change the color. I had limited choices for flooring and probably won’t be recommending this one just based on how thin it is.

I am sharing some snaps of where we are in the process below. Cabinet bases were just installed. My kitchen cabinets will be a combination of White Duck by Sherwin Williams and a stained, natural, white oak island. I am using these unlacquered brass knobs in the kitchen.

Our bathroom vanity (below) is quite large and I went with Sherwim Williams Alabaster. I am still finalizing lights and mirrors for this space.

The center drawers for this double bathroom vanity will be cut out for an enclosed trash pull out.

The paint color I chose for our door is Natural Cream by Ben Moore. I have a blog post highlighting this one and 4 other great greige paint options here.

I ordered my sofas, coffee table, dressers, and some custom furniture back in November. You can check out what I have already ordered here!

I am excited to take you along through decorating a new home!
